SU's offensive rebounding will be interesting to watch tonight . . . in the updated Pomeroy stats, Syracuse is 8th in the nation in offensive rebounding percentage, grabbing 41.1% of available offensive rebounds.

on the flip side, we have Tulane, which limits opponents to just a 22.6% offensive rebounding rate, good for 2nd in the nation.

Tulane appears to be a very strong defensive team, ranked 48th overall in the Pomeroy defensive efficiency rankings. Only Stanford (7th) is ranked higher among SU's opponents so far. The only other Top 60 defenses SU has faced were Va Tech (57) and Marshall (58). All three of the top 60 defenses the Orange have faced have held them under 70 points.

In addition to limiting offensive rebounds, Tulane also ranks highly in limiting effective field goal percentage (41.3%, 8th in the nation, which includes holding teams to 27.7% from three,30th in the land). They are also top 50 in steal percentage and just outside the top 50 in block percentage, so this should be a low scoring, grind it out game where the team that most values the ball wins.

Keep in mind those stats were accumulated against the following schedule:

Alabama A&M
Nicholls State
Maryland Eastern Shore
Navy
Alcorn State
New Orleans
San Diego
Southern
Georgia Tech
Wofford
MacMurray College
Jacksonville State

I suppose somebody in that mess might be an NCAA tournament caliber team, but they aren't jumping out at me. I fully expect the unmoveable object to be thrown out of the Dome tonight.

and Wofford beat them
Tulane's schedule and Kenpom ratings
Alabama A&M 316
Nicholls State 336
Maryland ES 335
Navy 292
Wofford 209: Tulane loss
Alcorn State 339
San Diego St 262
Jacksonville St 273

and I can't even find New Orleans, Southern Univ., and McMurray College (Div II?)

Best win: georgia Tech 75

They have been winning against bottom dwellers
