It does not appear that Hunt is allowed yet to audible at the LOS. You would think this would help get us into some better plays. It looks like we look at the sideline and then go with a play call built for the defensive personnel on the field. But if they blitz or play coverage out of that personnel we really don't adjust to that. Some play calls should have an option to run/pass but I'm not sure how far along Hunt is. Any input? Thanks

Hunt audibles alot... I'm confident not all of his rushing attempts are designed QB runs...

pretty sure he already does . i think he gets under center looks to his man and loudly yells "hey broyld i'm throwing it your way!"

That one zone read play gives him three options. Don't need audible.
Agreed, and I brought this up in another thread, but Hunt didn't have many drop-backs, and then tuck and run. He really stayed in the pocket when he was supposed to and was determined to throw. Can't say I love that, because he's just so dangerous with 5 yards of open field in front of him, running through the line.

if you cant audible you have limited options. he must have some so he can do so he can check out of bad calls. maybe he is limited to protections changes, but i dont think he cant change anything more than where his read is going.

He does check out of calls. Lester said that he checked into a bunch of the big runs.

That was in the maryland game right? Or maybe CMU. Seemed like he checked into plays where he called his own number mostly. It takes time. I like Hunt, I think he has the makeup to be a good college QB. He can take over games with his legs but for us to win games consistently he's going to have to be more accurate with the quick game. And then, at some point, he's going to have to check calls at the line getting us into plays that take advantage of what the D gives us. Hopefully that happens by the end of the year.

Maryland. Made a lot of good checks at the line.

People are too quick to downplay what Hunts capable of. Also writing off McDonald too soon.

I hope it doesn't come across that I am writing anyone off at this point but I'd like to see some slight adjustments. I think SWC said it best in another thread. Our personnel is more suited to run and throw down the field yet we seem to want to throw short and get YAC. You don't have to scrap your entire scheme, just make some slight adjustments in your route tree. In light of the new *** It article, I am a bit concerned.

We agree.

I'm not concerned. At all.

I think though checks and audibles have huge amount of differences in them. In our system I think plays have a check allowed to change a piece of the play which is much different than an Audible where we totally change the play. Ours seems to me if this many are here then we change from A to B, which may be run to pass or left to right. I doubt its Dive hand off to deep post changes

It's a run/pass check at the very least. That's what Lester said a few weeks ago - that he checked out of some pass plays and got them into really good run plays at the line.

Seems to sum it up well. And it may be all they wanted to do up to this point. Maybe we'll see some bigger adjustments during conference play.

Hunt sets up in the shotgun.

Peeks left.

Counts the defenders.

Looks right.

Starts to count the...

"*** it, I'm throwing a bubble to Broyld."

hope he doesnt do that this week or if he does he doesnt throw it short.
