This is the third week in a row (not counting RI), that, while reviewing the game videos, it appears as if our receivers are getting much more open than in the past. Even on fly patterns they seem to have a step on the defenders.

I do notice better pass patterns, including rub routes, but I am not sure that is the entire reason. Now, if Parris and Moore had better hands we would really be in business.

Different scheme, different position coach, another year in a collegiate S&C program and healthy.

Better play calling, you simply cant compare this year to last. George was lost and it showed all over the O. Kids didnt understand what they were supposed to do. Didnt believe this year Lester has it going

I agree. I think it's benefit of having a dedicated position coach vs. a coordinator doing it part time.

On another note they need to target Ishmael more. Only 9 catches??

I'm no coach or anything, but I think you hit on it when you said "healthy" because having Brisly Estime back as a deep ball threat, I would have to think, is opening things up a bit for the other receivers, too. I'd assume the safeties have to keep an eye on him a little more and can't concentrate on Ishmael and the other receivers. More weapons = more opportunities to get open.

Well, if that wasn't true before LSU, it will be going forward.

If you get a chance, watch the 40 yard TD pass to Estime. It was a very well designed play set-up by the option.

I really, really like what I've seen from Lester so far. For the first time in the HCSS era, it looks like we might actually have an offensive identity.

This is why I still think Trey Dunkelberger could make an impact as soon as he's back and healthy. He's a natural pass catcher.

What's up with Dunk? Nagging injury?

Yeah, I'd like to see Ish featured more, but other than that, it seems like things are coming together on that side of the ball.

it wasn't just the players, the Mcdonald didn't even understand what he was doing. No flow to the game

No question we have more recvrs open this year. IMO, it's due to 80% scheme, 10% health, 10% improvement. Hard to underestimate how much effect bad scheme had last year. Coach McF$&@-it was a disaster.

I still wonder why Lester didn't junk that scheme immediately, take the short term hit, and be better by week 7. As it was we were stuck with a crappy scheme all year. Who cares now, we clearly have a scheme we can move the ball with.

They are getting off the corners better for sure. Strength. In fact you saw that play out yesterday in anoffensive PI. I haven't minded the occasional off PI. Usually means the WRs are manhandling the dbs

Several factors in why the offense is better.
QB play is better -- threat of option or QB roll-out/run.
Best deep threat (Estime) is healthy.
Ishmael is 15 lbs stronger.
Smarter OC. Smarter coach for WRs.
Offense should be even better with Phillips back.

While I agree, Game 1 we lost Hunt. Game 3 we lost Dungey. Game 4 we had Walk On QB.
Maybe as Brisley keeps making plays and we get Erv back, Ish will see more targets as the D will have to spread out across the 3.
