The similarities are interesting to me. Granted the current investigation has a ton more pull, but the reactions are similar.
1) faux shock by fans and media and NCAA and college officials that there is cheating going on
2) some assumed cheaters were not outed
3) The outrage by those not cheating that they are being accused by a the broad brush stroke of the investigation
Fortunately the insider like MLB is not overseeing this probe so hopefully there will be meaningful changes, but I sense the result will be similar in that things will look cleaner for a few years, a couple of surly dudes who are too good at cheating will be removed from the sport, and before you know it college hoops will once again have people hitting 500 foot bombs with nobody thinking anything odd is going on.
