We flat outplayed them at their place and I just can't get that game out of mind when I hear they are a 1 seed.
I mean I like Jay Wright but they just look like a paper tiger. That team wouldn't be ahead of Kentucky, Duke, UVA, Arizona, Wisconsin for me

I just see them losing in the 2nd round or sweet 16. Just watch how we played them defensively and they can be beaten.

IMO, Villanova is garbage.

Would remotely be surprised to see them lose early.

On paper they can make a legit case for a 1 seed. There is such a small line between good and bad, winning and losing this season other than a handful of teams and they have won the games rather than lost them. Put them in the ACC and they are likely an NCAA team with at least 6 conference losses, likely 7 depending on the schedule and possibly although unlikely a bubble team. We should have beaten them on the road and wound up with 9 conference wins even after losing a player to injury. I find it very unlikely no matter what their schedule would be in the ACC that they could have done any better than 12 wins and more than likely would have had to battle to get to 11 and possibly 10.

I don't think they are a bad team. I'll give them at least two wins in the tourney. After that it's 50-50 that they'll win a third. Any one can have a bad game on a given night and there's no question they had one against our zone.

They are if Ochefu is on the floor and not in foul trouble.

I was at the Nova-St John's game on Saturday and they looked very good, especially in the second half when St John's stopped hitting junk buckets.

I wouldn't quite call them garbage like RF :) But I think Kentucky, Duke, a healthy UVA, and Wisconsin are clearly ahead of them. I'm watching a little Arizona right now but I haven't seen enough of them this year to say for sure.

I was at the game where they played Penn at the Palestra. Penn is awful in a down year in the Ivy. Villanova couldn't shake them and was even down in the second half. I've only seen them play a few times, but they have really failed to impress me for a potential 1-seed.

They have only lost two games, if Wisc wins the big ten tournament, I think they get the final one one seed, if not Nova will get it.

Nova will be a #1 seed on paper if they win the BET. IMO they are over-rated and beat up a lot of mediocre BE teams. Wouldn't be at all surprised if they get bounced in the 2nd round or sweet 16.

a month ago i would have said no but theyre playing really well lately, id be very surprised if they dont make 2nd weekend.

They have the resume of a #1 seed, and may well get it. but I am not sure if they are that good.

We have to remember that the Big East was considered the 2nd best conference in the land on metrics entering the conference season. Hence, Nova played a crapload of top 50 games which they basically all won. They have 6 top 25 wins... altough they are all between 19-25 on the RPI scale.

Go 18-2 in this year's Big East and your going to have a great resume.

Many people don't realize that the whole "form" of the bracket is pretty much determined by December 31. Teams need to fit their way in, but you know what conferences will do really well in terms of berths, and what conferences will dominate the top 4/5 lines.

It appears that 'Nova, UVA, and Wisconsin will compete for the final number one seed. The Wildcats and Badgers have very similar resumes. It appears that UVA has a slight edge over both teams right now. If UVA wins the ACC tourney I would expect them to procure the final number one seed.

Should UVA fail to win the ACC tournament, it would depend on what the other teams do in their tourneys. I could see Villanova sneaking in as a ones seed, but only if UVA and Wisconsin stumble.

However, that does not answer your original question. I do not think they are number one seed good, but they might get the final one seed.

I find it hard to believe UVA isn't getting a 1 seed. They did benefit from probably a weaker than average ACC schedule, but th ey went undefeated playing a reasonable non conf schedule (won @VCU and Maryland, beat Davidson at home) and won the ACC outright, plus they avoided a bad loss to Florida State yesterday.

I believe the poster above may have meant Zona instead of UVa. Virginia is clearly getting a #1.

Wisconsin, Zona, and Nova would have all been clear #1's last year (in that last spot). Strong 1 line candidates this year.

I can't wrap my head around the fact that that team is 30-2 yet it took a horrific Syracuse meltdown, excellent Villanova scoring, and some of the worst officiating in history for them to sneak into overtime and beat us in December.

You can't evaluate the strength of a team by looking at it's performance in one specific game. That would be like Rutgers fans prior to the 2003 NCAA Tournament saying, "well we're horrible, and we beat Syracuse, so they must suck." Or DePaul fans in 2010 who went 1-17 in the Big East saying that about SU beating them by the skin of their teeth.

Nova is an excellent team.

Didn't mean to imply that at all. They're very good. I'm just disappointed that our mediocre team had a top-five win gift-wrapped but managed to lose.

The positive take is that if we had won that game we probably would have made the tournament, or at least been right on the bubble. Now we don't need to worry about what may have been.

Btw underrated reason we lost that game was silent G taking way too long to inbound after one of the late Nova buckets.

They are 2014 Wichita Shockers #1 seed good, but thats about it. Early bounce for them in 2 weeks.

Possibly -- but the 7,8,9,10 seed lines will be a fairly underwhelming group of power conference teams who I don't think is going to stand up much. 7-10 seed quality teams basically defines half the Big East - the conference that Nova went through at 18-2.

And committing a dumb foul a couple seconds before halftime that gave Nova some free points. Gbinije made some bad mistakes that day.

Let's keep in mind WSU lost to the eventual national runner-ups by 2 points. That team was very good. I don't think Nova is as good as 2013-14 WSU.

that was a tremendous game played at a very high level. wichita st were for real last year, they just got a terrible matchup against a #8 seed that was loaded and just underachieved in the regular season.
