For many of my fellow OG's, our lifetime vow of rooting against Notre Dame football began on that dark and tragic day in 1961 when ND was granted the illegal extra down to beat the Orange.
Throughout those ensuing decades, we have yearned, indeed prayed for vengeance. But simply beating them would not be enough. It would have to be a circumstance that would live in agony for ND fans and in celebration for those who bleed Orange.
Orange brothers and sisters, that day of vengeance may finally be upon us. On Saturday, fate has set the stage for retribution in a such a perfect way that SU fans will be talking about it for generations.
Notre Dame has the potential to lose...in South Bend, mind you...to a true freshman lacrosse player walk-on QB on a 3-win team. Their humiliation would be total, and it would be one of the biggest stories in years in college football.
Joe Filardi would forever he a hero to the Orange faithful. People will come up to him every day for the rest of his life to talk about the game. He would be national news and be celebrated not only by SU fans, but for all college football fans who root against Notre Dame.
It is time to avenge that travesty from so long ago. To use a basketball metaphor, fate has tossed the ally-oop pass in the direction of the basket and now SU needs to jam it through the net.
The hour is upon us. Let's get it done.
