But Pete Carroll needs to stop talking.  These coaches just don't know probabilities at all.  If getting a yard is in two plays such a sure thing, why in the world do they punt so much in short yardage situations?  Totally inconsistent.  If you're talking about kicking a field goal where you only have one shot at it anyway, go ahead and waste time.  But when you need a TD, you can't be so worried about Brady going 50-60 yards in 20 seconds.  you need to score.

Now, this all gives Carroll the benefit of the doubt that he's not making up a stupid story.  I think he might be making this up which is dumber than if he actually believed any of this wasted play business.  If you're going to waste a play, wouldn't you just roll out or throw a fade out of bounds?

I think they're making up stories because they don't want to take on the Beast mode fans by saying "Look, Lynch is not a sure thing from the goal line, the pass probably works most of the time, so shut up already"
