My biggest concern is that he's spent his entire career in the northeast/mid-Atlantic Catholic school ecosystem.  That comes with its own built in recruiting network that he wouldn't be able to rely on here.  Those schools have enough talent to feed FCS, DII, and DIII.  The few P5 prospects that they generate are going to ND and BC, not SU.  So even though he's got roots in the northeast and I'm sure understands our recruiting situation, all of his existing ties are to a parochial school system that he can't really tap into here.  He'd have to expand his recruiting network and relationships beyond what they are now.

Secondly, recruiting at the P5 is different.  He hasn't really had to manage the transfer portal in FCS, at least not nearly to the extent he would here.  He also hasn't had to deal with NIL at all.  Those will become very critical very fast if, once Dino leaves, a third of the roster portals out.  Chesney wouldn't have much time to figure it out.

Still, we could do a lot worse.  I'd rather see Chesney hired than a 60 year old retread coach from the south or west that's had middling success all over FBS.
