I think everybody in the new class will be a good player eventually, but I don't particularly think any of them are going to be great freshmen. No one-and-dones in the group. If we get a solid bench contributor or two the first year, I'd call it a success. Returning players. Lets start with Joseph. I think we see a big jump in production from him. I'm a believer. I think he has all the skills necessary to be an extremely good basketball player. Its not rare at all for a freshman to not be ready to play. What is rare is Syracuse needing to rely on a guy like that. I think seeing how ugly it was put some people off him, but trust me there are plenty of guys who went on to have good careers who would have looked just as bad if given the chance their freshman year. Cooney. I've said it before I'll say it again. He is as good a role player as there is in the country, but if the opposing defense can game plan to lock him down like he's the star they are going to succeed more often than they are going to fail. Its up to the rest of SU's players to score enough to get the defensive attention off him. When Cooney is left alone he is dangerous. Gbinije. To me he is maybe the most interesting player on the team. For about a month last year Gbinije was playing as well as anybody who ever wore a Syracuse jersey. Im not kidding. He was putting up Carmelo Anthony/Billy Owens numbers, while playing forward on D and point guard on O. Now I'm a fan of Gbinije and I was touting him before the season started, but he's not THAT good. At least I don't think he is. But if I'm wrong and he can play anywhere close to how he did for that month last year and keep it up for an entire season Syracuse will be a top 10 or 15 basketball team. I don't care what anybody else does. I'm just not sure that's a realistic expectation. Roberson. I expect him to be one of the better rebounders we have ever seen at Syracuse. I expect him to improve defensively. I expect him to be a garbage-man on O, and essentially a second option type. I don't think a 10 point 10 rebound per game season is out of the question. Very solid all around. Coleman - Who the hell knows?
