Looking at play by play from 37 games last season, here's the breakdown.
Opening tips: SU 20 / Opponents 17
In 24 games the first basket made was not a 3, in 4 games the opponent made a 3 to start with a 3-0 lead (Not necessairily on first posession), and SU started with a 3 to take a 3-0 lead in the other 9 (not necessarily on opening posession).

*The Lehigh play-by-play is weird. Has SU winning tip, but first shot being taken by LEH without anything (miss/turn/foul) on SU in bewteen.
