Jamal Brunt: New Assistant Coach

That made me unsure why he came. Good friends with GMac? More autonomy?

Maybe he’s making better money but without the title. I can see a downside with a new staff calling one of them Associate Head Coach.

Since Brunt was Associate Head Coach at Penn State, I thought he might get the same title here. It is a step up in program, but not the massive step up it would have been a decade ago. And I don't know if Syracuse can pay better than Penn State for assistants.

There must be a sizable pay increase. It’d be surprising for a guy to leave the coach he played for in college and who he’s spent the last 8 years coaching under for a job that doesn’t pay a lot better. Could be wrong but seems like that has to be a big factor.

1) I’m a basketball coach for Syracuse University, or

2) I’m a basketball coach at Penn State

…and I think Syracuse wins that one handily.

A lateral move with a tick up in salary.

Or

I'm an Assistant Coach at an ACC school

I think pay is important, so is title. If they are paying him more for essentially a lateral move, that means good things for Syracuse.

I was just wondering about his exact title, if he's technically getting demoted by changing schools. It might be he'll be doing the same exact thing, but GMAC doesn't believe in the associate head coach title.

Maybe we'll never know.
