I'll say this because nobody else would... he has been terrific the last 2 games. 17 assists to 4 turnovers and last night he set up JJ with 4 wide open looks from 3 that he couldn't knock down. I know how beloved he is on this board so let me have it.

the bar is low right now, we haven't had a good point guard in so long.

He‘s played very well in several games. I actually wish he would shoot more. He has better mechanics than most of the players on this team. He being aggressive will open things up for teammates. His flash cut in the lane and receiving a pass from Eddie and then finding Davis was the best play of the season. Carlos had 8 assists last night. JJ also had 6 assists and made some great interior passes. Unfortunately, down the stretch we get stagnant with little ball movement and those plays aren’t there to be made. That’s why you go the final five minutes without a basket.

Agree but the next improvement will be not taking the bait by passing the ball to subparling

I would stop passing to JJ - these players are all better people than me. I would be holding a grudge over his gunning.

Yep. He’s been the teams best guard for the past month. He has really gotten comfortable. It’s unfortunate it didn’t happen sooner. Helping transfer adjust to higher level seems like something that should be cultivated in practice by the HC.

I’m not a Red fan in the slightest. But JJ is gonna have to start bearing some of the weight for this poor season.

Starling hasn’t improved since he’s gotten here. He is a one dimensional offensive threat who is below average on defense. Asking him to come back for next season would be a MASSIVE mistake

JJ shot was not the same after he got injured. He got open but could not convert the open 3s.

What killed us is in CRUNCH TIME, out guards (Carlos and JJ) shot 50%. Had they made the free throws we crawl out with a win.

I'd add Eddie too... Carlos and Lampkin are both playing much better basketball right now than they were at the start of the year. Would be interesting to see what this team would have looked like at full strength with those two playing like they are now and a healthy Freeman.

Honestly probably have a ceiling of 6-7th in the ACC given how the league has fared this year.

Carlos played so well we thought we had to take the ball out of his hands at the end and give it to the guy who played the worst last night.

Yeah - what could have been??

He vs. Boopie Miller was quite a battle and he more than held his own LN.

He's been very good the last couple games.

Where has this been all year is the question?

Credit where credit is due.

Thought he was very good last night on offense and average on defense. If he played that way all year, we poss would be a 500 team

vs VaTech, his defense was awful and 1 for 6 from 3. Not sure how that's terrific.

Lampkin is still AWFUL on defense. He got put in a blender on multiple plays last night including late in the game

His paltry shot blocking should've been a red flag

He hopes they miss so he can get the rebound, yippee

It's not a great achievement but he could end the season with the most blocks he's had in any single season of his college career.

Google what a point guard is supposed to do. Then...maybe...you'll understand why he had a good game.

whenever I read his name I think of a fictional character in red dead redemption.

I think he has been playing great. Hard to defend awesome at his size but that sob really tries. Light years better than in beginning of year.

I wonder how much not sitting a year hurts some of these guys. Some can step right in, but not everyone can. Is Wes Johnson an instant success in 2010 without a full year of practice?

Wes Johnson was Big 12 all rookie team and All Big 12 Honorable Mention before he came to Cuse

Carlos was CAA All Defensive team.

Think it has more to do with the talent involved.

Not even just the last two games. He’s been much better for weeks now and really for most of ACC play. He’s still limited because of his size and not great athleticism, but he’s finally getting comfortable and playing within himself…just in time for the end of the season…or maybe our ACC tourney run! Lol
