Freshman RB Howard 'built like a rock'

One of the few individuals named by Babers in his scrimmage recap interview for SU Athletics was freshman running back Jarveon Howard.

Howard, who wowed the program with his strength in the weight room this offseason, took off for a 55-yard gain. He also had multiple loud collisions with redshirt sophomore free safety Devon Clarke, leading Babers to say the 5-foot-10, 210-pounder back is "built like a rock."

[B]Orange senior running back Dontae Strickland praised Howard for his willingness to take coaching on Thursday. Mastering the protection calls and checks that the running backs are responsible for may be the hardest part of learning the position in Babers' hurry-up spread offense.
