Why? The tape was bad for Bernie personally--probably not so much for JB / the program, and possibly not for the University. If the search of his house yields anything, that will also be entirely upon Bernie.

If Bernie is guilty, which seems likely right now, the U will need to do damage control due to public perception. How can that not be bad for the program/U.

Guilty of being a deviant homo who lacks scruples? Or guilty of being a pedophile? If it's the former, then this all looks bad and Bernie might face some consequences stand alone for him, but the program won't suffer beyond some initial perception backlash that shouldn't take long to weather.

If it's the latter, then the program is in big, big trouble.

This all hinges on what Bernie is guilty of, if anything [obligatory qualifier]. Based upon the info at hand--and yes, more could still come out--things seem to point more toward Door #1. You may not like or approve of Whitlocks method or manner of communication..But he is spot on with his analysis..He has never said Bernie didnt do it or what he believed one way or the other.. With this info. coming out through ESPN today, all it does is make ESPN look like they are trickling out info for their own gain...They are keeping the story alive on their own..there will be more..

If they knew about this tape well before this time, it should have been given to police long ago..Someone far bigger than Whitlock needs to do an analysis/investigation of Schwartz and his employer when this becomes history..

I don't see how ESPN doesn't bring out the tape from the beginning. Guilty or not, ESPN doesn't care. They are trickling out the the details to keep it on the front page for their own benefit. They don't care at all about Davis, Lang or the Fine's. They are just trying to sell advertising. Also, how does accuser #3 get in touch with Davis and Lang before contacting the police??? I'm sure every other news organization is unsuccessfully trying to track down Davis and #3 dials him right up. No doubt ESPN put them in touch and that will taint #3's statements to authorities. The World Wide Leader is in this story up to their eyes. Aren't news organizations supposed to cover the news and not make the news???

What current evidence are you talking about? There is NO evidence supporting that declaration. If there were, then this story would have been run in 2003, Bernie would probably have been jailed, and the results of the 2005 investigation would have been different. To say nothing of events since the story broke 10 days ago.

There is no EVIDENCE that has been made public establishing that Bernie is a pedophile, even the tape that's kicked off today's board firestorm.

What, specifically, is he wrong about though? He's not trying to free Bernie. He's pointing out how strangely ESPN has handled this. I would bet many at the 4 letter are feeling the exact same way. Now it's out there that ESPN has had this tape for 8 years? While Bernie has continued to coach? And they continued to broadcast SU games? Not good.
