With Van Gundy and Breen doing the Knicks game on ESPN.
Ha! Too funny"Horrible pass from Preston Shumpert..." Jay Bilas before correcting himself
The Knicks better have a serious gameplan in place this offseason or Melo is goneeeee. This team around him is such garbage. I can't think of worse role players in the NBA.
Worst starting point guard in the league? CHECK
Inconsistent shooting guards? CHECK
Brittle, soft big men? CHECK
Awful coach? CHECK
He's a great passer when he trusts his teammates. Right now he clearly thinks hero ball is the only way to win..and he's prob right. The amount of wide open shots his teammates miss is crazy and Melo is the only one trying right now. I think you're seeing the beginnings of him becoming visibly upset at this team. Woodson runs him into he ground every game and Melo looks like the only one capable of competing at a high level.Melo's part of the team, hence, part of the problem. He had 20 rebounds and was 16-16 from the line -- great stats -- but he was 4-23 from the field -- 17 pct. I think he'd be a tough guy to play with, knowing that if the ball goes in to him, good chance it's not coming back and he's gonna launch another shot.
On the other hand, who else on the team is likely to score if they had the ball? Bad combination either way.Melo's part of the team, hence, part of the problem. Did he not essentially choose the teammates when he forced the trade to the Knicks? He was well aware of their personnel and salary cap situation. I said all along going there was the wrong move. At the very least, he should have waited for free agency so the Knicks could have kept some of the good pieces they already had. Basketball wasn't the #1 factor when choosing to go there, now he's paying the price. Where ever he goes next, his window will be much smaller to win a championship. He's not old yet, but old is right around the corner. He's a great passer when he trusts his teammates. Right now he clearly thinks hero ball is the only way to win..and he's prob right. People say this but the players they gave up were Felton, Mosgov, W Chandler and Gallo. Felton can Adios as soon as possible and Gallo is a Bargs clone who plays Melo's position. Mosgov wouldnt get any minutes so IMO the only player that could have helped is Wilson Chandler.Did he not essentially choose the teammates when he forced the trade to the Knicks? Ok, so what you just described was a team that wouldn't be a contender regardless of whether he went their via trade or FA. Melo knew how stacked Miami was when he made his decision and that the Knicks have been a front office nightmare since he entered the league. Going there wasn't a basketball first decision, so he has nothing to complain about when his team sucks.People say this but the players they gave up were Felton, Mosgov, W Chandler and Gallo. It's not like we'd be dramatically better with those guys. Also.. We won 54 games last year and would have forced a game 7 against Indy if the "Hibbert ALWAYS goes up vertically" unspoken rule had not been implemented.
That waiting for FA argument is old and tired because we won 54 games last year, none of those guys are good and Amare would have always been a max contract dead weight no matter what.
Yea, you can question his decision to go to NY but as far as what NY gave up to get him...aside from the draft picks it wasn't anything special. Bottom line is that Amare being worthless kills them by he's a wasted max contract. Well see what Melo values when it comes time to peace out of NY, take less with NY or if he takes the supermax with NY.Ok, so what you just described was a team that wouldn't be a contender regardless of whether he went their via trade or FA. Gallo is also a SF though. Playing Melo at he 4 with Gallo at the 3 may have been something but Woodson refuses to put Melo at he 4 despite all the numbers proving that's the right move plus Gallo is made of glass. We have enough of those guys.Gallo is MUCH better than bargnani, IMO.

I'd honestly take anyone over Felton. He isn't able to guard anyone.. All 3 of those guys you listed would tear him up. He isn't a good shooter, king of the long 2 brick. Most of all, his *****g stupid a** facial expressions every fn game. The way he flails around like he's controlled by Gepetto after every whistle. Adios.I'd argue that teams like my Bucks and the Lakers have worse role players. And they don't have a Melo either. And I would still take Felton over the likes of Kendall Marshall, Brandon Knight (who's gotta be close to having more turnovers than assists), DJ Augustine, etc.
If winning a championship is his main goal, he takes whatever pay cut is necessary and allowed to go where he can contend now and for the next few years. He's made plenty of money, and one could argue he'd make more with endorsements following a championship or two than in a max contract.Yea, you can question his decision to go to NY but as far as what NY gave up to get him...aside from the draft picks it wasn't anything special.
