10. Scoop Jardine, Syracuse
Scoop isn't a player who will wow you with a quick first step or an ability to deliver a fancy pass, but the veteran guard has shown the resolve to grind you down with his persistence and toughness. He finished last season 0.1 assists per game shy of leading the nation's toughest conference in that category. Last season was one of extreme highs and lows for Jardine mentally. Maturing is a process all point guards go through during their first year starting, no matter how many years they've been in school. He is a hard-nosed player who knows he has to be the voice for Jim Boeheim on the court if Syracuse wants to win it all.

When people start talking about title aspirations, I have to suspend my disbelief that Scoop Jardine will make good decisions in big games.

Good Scoop Jardine deserves to be on that list. Bad Scoop Jardine would be on the top 10 most maddening PG's in the country. If he can find the consistency, sure...

I think that's a spot on assessment. I got frustrated at times last season, but I'm glad he's our PG, and I see Scoop having an excellent year. The kid's got balls.

This is exactly my problem with Scoop... People want to put him high on lists, but to do so they have to praise his intangibles and downplay the level of his physical talents, which is understandable. But I don't think we were sitting here pumping his intangibles at the end of a lot of games last year.

He seems like a good kid that has come a long way, and I personally have no idea how important he is to keeping that locker room together. So I hope everything works out for the best, for everyone involved.

Scoop last year reminded me of a slightly faster, slightly better penetrating, better at tranisition, and hitting a few more big shots version of Josh Wrights on the Dnic senior led team.

All assists aside being a perimerter orientated guard and always throwing the outlet to Rick (roberts/watkins) or KJO/Triche/Dion (Dnic Devendorf) in isolation is what i mean. Point being Even Josh Wright did a decent job at that.

Can he play a Jonny Flynn/ Edelin like isolation role alittle more this year? Use those fancy layups of his and run the give and go with our Mobile Bigs and annoy not just challenge opponents.

No one who knows basketball doesn't speak highly of Scoop - every coach and analyst has him on these lists. Those most critical of him are a handful of the message board crowd.

Right on. I hate the way some here diss Scoop. SU will go as far this year as Scoop goes. Let's give him some love. After a pretty shakey beginning his freshman year, he seems to have gotten the personal part of his life together. I have faith he will do the same on the court this year.

Except NBA scouts.. :(

If anyone claims to be an Su fan but bashes Scoop they have a complex
He has more positive big plays then negative big plays. He has the biggest guts on the team for the past two years and he is the main reason that we have been successful the past two years PERIOD

I will have Scoop's back against all the bashers because they focus on the negative.

Ask yourself if you are the guys who complained Flynn couldn't feed the post

Scoop will be huge for us this year. Those who dislike him will still find things to complain about (so i never expect this little debate to end). He is the leader of this team. I believe that without him we will have only talented players on the floor, but less of a team. At big moment the others will look to Scoop. Kid is a player with guts. I think we are going to enjoy his senior year.

Shocking. Scoop? Really? Just shocking.

Well done, Scoop.

You mean the Josh Wright that averaged 6.6 ppg on 39% shooting and 3.8 assists per game while still turning it over 2.5 times a game in 24 mpg despite not being counted on to create his own shot or take big shots? Yeah, that seems like a spot on comparison.
