The drug thing is weird I'll grant you that.  The rule as I understand it was that the NCAA had no drug policy in place but if a school had its own drug policy in place then that policy must be followed.  SU had one and didnt follow it.  If they had a policy there should have been a mechanism in place to make certain it was being followed.

Regarding players getting paid - I disagree that it was not a violation.  Did they get those jobs [I]because[/I] they were athletes?  If the answer is yes then its a violation.  Thats pretty clear.

I think the penalties were pretty severe but I'm an alum and a fan so of course I think that.  I don't deny that they did break rules though.
