As a rabid fan of the program the suspense of all this is pretty much excruciating. There is more substance to all of this and whatever it may be it is only known by the principals involved at this point in time. This much I know, there are 346 Division 1 Mens Basketball programs and out of all of them ours is the one which is being singled out due to an allegation of impoprieties of a sexual nature having been commited by our long time assistant coach and close confidant of the head coach. I would have thought that the odds of that happening would be infintesmally less than those of us winning a National Championship this year. I believe that it would be naive to think that the weight of all of this won't have adverse consequences for the team, the coaching staff, the program, and the University. To what extent is anyones guess at this point but in watching the recent wild vacillations in JB's demeanor since this went down it seems apparent that this is already having a profound impact on JB. I think that it is entirely understandable that when something of this nature comes up with someone who has been your right hand man for nearly half a century one would have to be shaken by it. I'm hoping that whatever the outcome of all of this is that there is a timely resolution in which justice is served and the truth of the matter comes out so this can all be put to rest and all parties can move forward. This team holds so much promise and the cloud of this has dampened the wonderful early season optimism which I'm sure we've all looked forward to. It is also my hope that the allegations turn out to be baseless and unfounded because finding out that Bernie Fine is actually different than the person that I've held in such high esteem for all these years would make all of us a little more jaded and forever change the magic of what it is to be a Syracuse Basketball Fan. We have a program that is unique in so many ways and one of the most wonderful aspects of the program is the undying loyalty of so many fans accross the country. Go anywhere in America to game in which Syracuse is one of the teams playing and it is always amazing how there are fans of the program everywhere. There are too many things to list which make this program special. I hope and pray that those things aren't forever changed by the seeming tragedy which is currently unfolding around the program.
