A telling quote, at least in my opinion. This is from the Waters piece that just went online this afternoon - posted below by OX, coming at the end of the piece.
"We're a different team with the two fifth-year players. I think we still would've been a good team, but we're a different team.''

Those highlights against Rutgers worth watching
Some of those moves were Malachi-esh. It looks like he has enough wiggle to get his own shot off. Then again these are clips against Rutgers, so it might not be the best indicator.

They were in terms of that one jab step creating space for his jumper, obviously that is what Mal used inthe critical run against uva. But Mal also got to the rim from the top of the key against uva almost at will in the second half. Never seen AW do that

Hate to say it, but I think VA started being tentative during that stretch because of foul trouble. They stopped playing help defense. We've seen SU in that position many times over the past few years because of frontcourt depth issues. How often did we see Rak stop contesting shots because he was afraid of the whistle?

Was it foul trouble? I really dont remember. At the time i thought they just got rattled because they thought they had us dead and burried and just werent prepared to match the intensity of our comeback

Edit, still like seeing the bewildered look on bennets face, like What this cant be happening, wake me up from the bad dream

No, they didn't have anyone with more than 3 fouls.

Malachi gets all the pub for his scoring in the second half(Rightfully), but we finished with 11 steals(Cooney 4) and 7 Blocks (Lydon 5). They had 27 points in the second half.

Mali was such a second half player. Imagine him this year playing both halves... In the NCAA Tournament in general, we absolutely crushed teams in the second half (in our wins).

Second Half Point Differentials in wins:
Dayton +17
MTSU +21
Gonzaga +4
Virginia +20
Total +62
Avg +15.5

I like the AW3 making the pass on the transition offense. I hope the Orange have a very good transition game this year. I think transition offense has been missing the last few years. Or it just seems like it has been missing.
It seems both Battle and Gillon have Outstanding speed baseline to baseline. AW3 and Frank should also be very good in open court

To me AW is similar to Kris Joseph, but a better shooter. I'm excited for this team, but meshing together may take a bit. Rather we struggle early, than later. When the time comes, I have faith these men will come together. JB knows this is probably his best shot to grab another. We have all the pieces. I want it more for Coach than myself. He deserves it.

He does deserve it, no question imo. I just saw that coach that has 3 NCs at a local private golf course. Same ole as usual. He was playing with one other guy, i left an iron on the tee of their par 3, had to go back to get it. His partner couldnt have been nicer to me but the coach turned his back on me as i talked to his partner ; i had already addressed him as coach so he wasnt concealing his identity. No way that guy deserves 2 more titles than JB . No way. I truly hope JB doesnt retire until he closes that gap

It's been missing. There's no "maybe" about it.

The step back jumper is something I wasn't aware of. Hmmmmm

If thats the case, we are going to be scary this year. I will take a better shooting Kris Joseph any day of the week.
