I still can remember those back to back losses to WV and Rutgers, especially that a-hole Phil Sellers sinking two free throws to ice the game, despite the masses waving their arms back and forth behind the basket. After he made the second, he mockingly waved his hands back and forth in front of his face, mocking our fans. One of my best friends was actually standing on the base of the basket stancion, frantically waving his arms and yelling at Sellers. Since this was the olden days, not a soul from the SUAD/Security did anything. However, his mother did see him on TV, so she grounded him (we were still in high school) for the remaining games of the season.
 
The next home game was against Colgate and all the bandwagon fans decided to stay home, as only about 4,000 people were in the stands at Manley. Jimmy Lee was quoted in the paper the next day as saying "only the real fans showed up last night." As noted, we went to the Final Four in San Diego that year.
