I think the extortion is JB's characterization of why Davis is making the allegations, I doubt there was ever a demand for money because JB, BF and the University would have come out on the offensive with that information if it were that clear.

The business about Davis being on road trips and living in Bernie's basement is unsettling. Let this be a lesson to all coaches don't let minors that you are unrelated to live or stay in your basement.

Hey if the mom wasn't involved at all the whole time wasn't he technically a adult the whole time.

Why would this kid go back after the second or third time. I can see 100 but after 2-3 you don't go back. What was he in 7th grade he knows how to touch himself by then.

It doesn't make much sense to me.

The problem with this is that he says Davis babysat the kid when he was 18, but wouldn't Davis only have been 14-15 years old at the FF in NOLA? If he babysat Bernie's kids when he was 17-18 years old, that might explain the Maui trip and being with Bernie (as well as the rest of the family) but not Davis' presence at the Final Four. And if he babysat for Bernie's kids when he was 14-15 years old as well as in the 17-18 year old range, then JB stepped in it with this statement.

Also, were Bernie's kids even at the Final Four in NOLA? Or in Maui? I can't believe the wife (and presumably the kids then) wouldn't insist on at least going to Hawaii.

I read it again and I'm not seeing that hint. I think the "He tried it before" comment was with regard to the 2003 accusation.

Somewhere else it was said the Maui trips were family vacations when the kid was already in (or maybe even graduated from) college. The assumption has been they were team trips to the Maui classic but this isn't the case.

JB is responding to Davis' claims that he went on away trips with two of those away trips being specifically mentioned as the FF in NOLA and the Maui trip in 1990. JB basically says that the only reason he would have traveled with the team to his knowledge is that he was babysitting Bernie's kids?

Again, I have to believe that Schwarz has the corroborating evidence that Davis was at both of these events (otherwise he truly is a bad investigative reporter).

Was Davis at the FF because he was the team's ball boy? If so, wouldn't JB know this? And if so, that immediately means JB stepped in it and will have to backtrack from this statement or at least amend it.

Was he later at Maui because he was the ball boy or because he was babysitting for Bernie's kids? What if it is disclosed Bernie's kids were not in Maui, but Davis was?

You see my point here? JB is reacting emotionally which can have both a good side and a bad side.

But this is actually a typical scenario with child molestations. Well-grounded logic doesn't play a part in it. It's usually kids on the margin that get molested repeatedly. Predators get to marginal kids by making them feel special, something they typically aren't getting at home. At some point, they introduce the inappropriate contact and they use different techniques to keep the kids quiet and coming back for more, for lack of a better phrase.

I had to take a course in this stuff in order to work with kids in my church. It was an eye-opening experience, to say the least.

Then does that eliminate that reason for Davis to be at the FF? And since JB emphatically says Davis was allowed to babysit for Bernie when he was 18 (he was only 14-15 when the FF occurred) wouldn't that rule out that reason for Davis being at the FF in 87?

So what's left?

Seems to me Davis wasn't there (which seems unlikely, since no one other than an absent mother seems to believe he wasn't there) or he was there because Fine specifically invited him along (and not to babysit, but perhaps to enjoy the experience and in that case Fine's kids had better have been there as well or that would really look suspicious) or he was there babysitting for Fine's kids at the age of 14-15 which specifically contradicts what JB said above.
