Can someone explain why Coleman and Chukwu combined for 32 minutes? Both were fine against our first four opponents but both were clearly not ready for SC today. Both were frequently out of position and didn't step up in the zone when it was needed and in the rare occasion they did it was usually too slow/late. Lydon might not have the bulk of Coleman or height of Chukwu, but he's long, moves well, and knows where he is supposed to be on defense. I'm not sure why Chukwu didn't learn positioning when he sat out last year, and like JB said, Coleman has no excuse. He's a 5th year player. Right now I think our biggest issues are 1) Defensive Center 2) Free Throw Shooting 3) Low Post Scoring. Lydon will hopefully start to get 25-30 mpg at center to solve that issue for the most part. Howard's the main issue at the charity stripe. His progression at the line will be key, especially if we need him in the late parts of games or overtime. Low Post scoring should be helped a bit with Lydon at the 5, but he's more of a stretch 5 with a bit of a post game. Hopefully our guards get more aggressive and can start finishing through contact. If our guards do better in the paint it should lessen our need for low post scoring.
