Of the 8 former SU players currently "playing" in the NBA, only one is getting paid less than $1M - Jerami Grant. He is now starting for the Sixers and has averaged 26.8 MPG over the last 5 games and is second only to Carmelo in PPG during that period.

I have not checked this stat, but I would be shocked if Jerami is not the lowest paid starter in the NBA.

He is not getting ripped off. He decided to sign a team (edit - mixed that up originally) friendly contract after being a 2nd round pick. He was very lucky to get a guaranteed contract like he did. but he is going to be "underpaid" for 4 full years now.

KJ mcdaniels turned down a similar deal and got a much better 2 year 6.5 ish mil with a 3rd team option at another 3.5ish. Of course he's in the d-league now, but he'll still get his 6.5.

yep, and more importantly as a second round pick, he got lucky to be on a team that will play him a lot. That is showing his ability and developing him for the future. He could have easily been drafted by someone else who never gave him the time. He's in the perfect situation for someone who fell down the draft boards and needed to get stronger, become a better ball handler, shooter.

He could have easily been drafted by a team with a better roster than the Sixers, and not made the team as a second round pick. He couldn't have landed in a better situation. He got very lucky.

I think Grant is going to be a 10+ year vet in the league when it's all said and done and he will make a pretty penny doing it. He's come a long way since his time at Cuse and as long as he continues to work hard someone will reward him with a contract. Another factor that's going to come into play is the cap explosion that is coming soon. I'm sure a few teams will throw more money at players than they would in past years and I think this works to Jerami's advantage.

If he stuck around at SU, he could still be playing for tuition, room and board. "Getting ripped off" is all relative, n'est-ce pas?

hmm... he would still be on scholarship.
