It may not be a comparable situation but my main point was: "It's possible for coaches to decide that they were wrong about a player and that they need his talents out there." Coaches know more than fans but sometimes they realize they were wrong about a guy. Back in the 80's Coach Mac and DeLeone stuck with an RB named Harold Gayden "because we believe in his talent" even though he started making moves before he hit the hole and held the ball too gar out from his body. It took 6 games during which we went 1-5 and Gayden ran for 2.9 yards per carry with 8 fumbles before they did what the fans wanted and sent in local kid Robert Drummond, a downhill runner who held onto the ball. We went 4-2 the rest of the way and 11-0 the next with Drummond splitting time with Michael Owens. Coaches aren't perfect and sometimes they realize they are wrong in time to something about it. This might be one of those occasions. The two great quesiitons about what has happened with this team this eyar are: 1) why are we scoring fewer points when we are gaining so many more yards? and 2) Why is the quarterback having to run the ball so much? The answer to both involves Fredericks. We can't run the ball consistently on conventional running plays so we are having to use the QB as an alternative and we can't sustain drives or punch it in down lose without a productive running attack. I think both situations would improve with Fredericks.
