[QUOTE="garnermike, post: 323426, member: 798"] I recall Brown being pretty specific that he didn't like the way Franco ran out of bounds too often to avoid getting hit. FWIW, and while I'm sure Yaz is the correct answer and he was a very good BB player, he dominated at Bridgehamton HS in a very week HS league. I recall Manhassett being in a much stronger HS BB league. 1962 was the year that Jim was indeed hurt. But he never missed a game in 9 NFL years (118). Only Walter Payton exceeded that, but the record book only accounts for "starts," and I believe that Jim played in much more than half of every game, while Payton, had a few very-short-lived starts. Today, with 16 games/season, with most running backs being smaller that their tacklers, I don't see it happening any time soon either. If you look at the old NFL film, Brown, at 6'2" and 230-235, seems to be bigger than most all the backfield and LB corps he faced. BTW, Brown passed 1000 yards rushing in the last game of the 1962 season, but was thrown for a loss on one of the last plays. Also, BTW, Brown's injury in 1962 was a recurring issue with his wrist.
