That is all.

Unreal :bang:

Higgins is actually better to have for a road game, always felt he tries to kill the home court advantage. Burr is just aweful either way, hopefully he is evenly bad for Lville and SU tonight.

Ugh. The 'Ville is gonna be able to rape our guys all night with no fouls.

If you read the L'Ville board on occasion they say the SAME EXACT THING about Burr. I actually think they may hate him even more than we do, which seems impossible.

Burr isn't the attention wh*re that Higgins is. I don't think Burr is that bad he just has the scowl and I know his name. Higgins loves the attention and does his best to make himself known during the game and let the home crowd know who he is. I don't think Burr does that he just makes some calls sometimes when he doesn't want to run back which affects both teams. During my Sr. at SU we were playing Seton Hall (who ended up beating us in a close game) and I yelled at Higgins the Hall guy traveled and he looked at me and shook his head no and then the next possession he called a travel on GMac and I yelled now you call it and the dude SMILED at me. He loved the fact fans knew who he was I disliked the guy since and now cringe when he refs a game at the Dome. Burr on the other hand had the guts to sit in the stands take the crap from the fans last yr at the BET after he and Higgins had 'ed the ending to the Rutgers-St. John's game. Burr stayed in the NYC, but Higgins wasn't seen.

A few years ago Syracuse played St. Johns at the garden I was sitting under the basket. Burr was officaiting. and within the first 2 minites of the game he missed a blatant travel on a SJU player. I got up and yelled about the missed call and he pointed at me to sit down shut up or I was gone. I know the usher who sit under the basket and Burr kept trying to get me escorted out. him. He needs to hang it up along with his drinking buddy Higgins.

If this is a grind-it-out game without many fast breaks then these guys are going to call anything on a drive to the hoop. Our free throws have been better this year than in previous (at least it seems that way) so maybe that is something in our favor.

I fully expect this game to take an extra hour or so if these guys get foul happy.

That is all.
I am pretty sure JB has exercised his ref veto vote for this season, blocking Jim Burr from reffing games at the Dome. Think he did it early in the season. That probably does not endear JB to old Jim.

Younger Jim Burr (he was crappy then too)

Some of you guys are just way too paranoid about Burr. He's exactly the kind of ref you want when you're on the road.

Wow your right JB has had to use his veto Burr has reffed 49 games this year 0 games this year in the Dome. JB must have something to do with that because Burr has only reffed 3 Syracuse games this year @Cincinnati,@Villanova, and Va. Tech in MSG.

He officiated the Pearl half court shot game almost 30 years ago. Shows you how long he has been doing this for.

If I remember, all 3 of those games were officiated fine. Granted there was no Fab in the Cincy game.

Burr trying to catch a quick nap

Tonight will be his 5th game in five nights

4. Yesterday he did the Illinois-Michigan game in Ann Arbor

3. Saturday he was at Penn State

2. Friday he did Iowa-Northwestern in Evanston Il

1. Thursday it was Seton Hall @ Rutgers

Here are some quotes from an Andy Katz story from 2007

"Travel is killing all these officials," "It's the same guys refereeing all these games. It's an excuse that they'll give you that they're independent contractors. When I refereed in the ACC, we were all restricted as to how many games we could work.

"Everybody says you can't do that now, but hey, we did do it and everybody went along with it."

Thats impressive that you know its Burr already. I thought no one knew until right before tip-off for Vegas purposes. Did you see him in the Ville or did you read it somewhere?

Since Thursday Burr has logged 2054 miles as the crow flies

Thursday Albany NY to Piscataway NJ 153

Friday Piscataway NJ to Evanston IL 700

Saturday Evanston IL to University Park PA 581

Sunday University Park PA to Ann Arbor MI 321

Monday Ann Arbor to Louisville Ky 299

Agree with that. You can't be at your best if you are reffing every night. And it's not just the legs. Concentration too. These guys ref too much. They should be 3-4 games a week max.

On the subject of referees, over the weekend I was watching a game and the play-by-play guy said, "Great officiating crew for this game."

And I thought, "Has a broadcaster ever said that tonight's ref crew is comprised of overweight, slow, old incompetent men who make a lot of mistakes?"

Just once I want to hear somebody on TV say that Burr and Higgins need to retire. But they never do. They just say, "Tim Higgins and Jim Burr, veteran officials. Great crew for this game."

It's as if "veteran" equals "good." Which it doesn't.

Why should they retire?
You make it sound like they should be able to run baseline to baseline in 40 seconds or something.
I have no problem with not wearing contacts indoors.

That was the bad news about Burr, along with he'll be extra edgy because of the five games in a row.

The good news is that we are 3-0 with him doing our games this season

11/23 at MSG SU 69 VPI 58

1/11 in Philly SU 79 Nova 66

1/23 SU 60 @ Cincy 53

Regarding Bilas, I think he lost total respect for Burr during that fiasco in the BET game between St. John's & Rutger's. He was very outspoken about the twins and that they work too many games. He now gives them no slack.
