Honestly, he looked a very different player against ND compared to previous games against "real" teams. Very confident and made adjustments.

I give a lot of credit to March's game plan which put Joey on the wing instead of behind the goal. Joey was able to take advantage of picks and ball movement in a way he hasn't been able to before.

He was very effective off-ball. A nice change from the sometimes-stagnant sets with him at the X.

Agreed. I think the coaches have figured out how to utilize Spallina's strength. His shooting vs both Gate and ND has been stellar. His last goal Sat my fave where he faked right-hand shot rolled back left-handed and stuck lower far corner of goal. Nothing fancy, no btb, just fundamental and perfect!

Spallina scored three goals dodging on his longpole matchup against Colgate. His ND goals ended up all being offball but he was still making things happen off the dodge against Lyght. He can do it all. He will not just be an offball guy going forward. Last year he went 3 and 4 against Cornell (a "real team") with plenty of dodging on his matchup. I expect we see more of the same this weekend, with positive results.
