He so embodies what the mission of college sports should be, and his love of SU is unsurpassed. He is not the best player on any team he played on, but it should be about more than that. A well placed whisper by you in the right ears, could make this happen. I, too, don't want Scoop to be on another team.

As outrageous as that sounds, I really wouldn't mind it. Obviously he would have to wait in line, but if it did happen I would make sure I was there to see it.

I loved Scoop and all that he accomplished, but he is not among the limited few who should be honored with a retired Jersey.

I think the group presently consists of:

Bing, Owens, Washington, Coleman, Douglas, Seikaly, Hanson, Sidat-Singh & Gabor.

You have to honor the likes of Warrick, Wallace, Melo, Moten, GMac and others before you'd ever get to Scoop.

Captain Tuttle don't know what you're smoking but in no way does he deserve to have his number retired. He was a wildly inconsistent decent college player who had his share of off court problems
Have you forgotten about histhe issue with his uncle, bar fights and trips to the casino? There must be atleast 100 players more deserving then him. Unbelievable!

That would severely diminish the significance of the honor to those already honored.

Whatever the Captain is smoking would certainly help take the edge off today.

BTW I think that is the reason that there is usually a cooling off period before one can be elected to a HOF or receive some other such honor. In the emotional high of a win (or I guess loss) or at the very end of someone's career you tend to overvalue their accomplishments. Later when you look back, you tend to have a clearer more even perspective on those acheivements.

I wouldn't go as far as to say he should have his jersey retired but Scoop's difficulties early in his career and one of the reasons I really like him. But I would venture to say most of us made some decisions that we would do differently if we had a rewind button too. But to see the person that Scoop has turned out to be is really awesome. I thought he did a great job at the press conference last night - handled the question about the officiating probably better than a lot of coaches would have. He's leaving here with a degree and has grown up- what college is all about.

No he doesn't.

But that doesn't diminish the contributions he made these past three years, an amazing stretch in program history. And it certainly doesn't take away from the fine young man he's developed into. Truly, a credit to the program.

That's sweet but no way.
