Desko said after the loss that they would be aggressive to go find someone who can help close the gap in the /O department. That was good to hear. I guess after a season long struggle he is ready to move away from the Daddio, Buhr experiment.

Yeah, it's clear those two guys are done. Does anybody know if any of the OCC sophs are FO guys?

Staats would be great but he's only a freshman and there was some talk that he would go to the NLL rather than to D1.

First, congrats to occ for their championship and becoming the dominant juco program. That said, let's not get carried away with juco players. I have been on these boards for around 10 years and no matter the sport there are always people looking for juco saviors. The reality is a juco transfer is a 50/50 proposition. For every Sid Smith there are numerous juco all-Americans that just can't compete at the d1 level for various reasons. Sure, I think Randy Staats could be a superstar at SU but let's not blow these guys up for scoring 30 goals against glorified high school teams.

I disagree 1000%. The % is much higher for lax Juco's at Syracuse than 50/50. Recently you're talking Sid Smith, Jamieson, Jeremy Thompson and in the 90s it was Regy Thorpe (Elbridge/Herkimer CC), Jeff Roos (Homer/Herkimer CC).

Lacrosse Juco's are a different animal. There are a good number of Juco laxers that can play high major D1 lacrosse (matt pratt not being one of them) but a kid like Staats is a 6 Nations Indian and the kid can flat out ball.

Staats made and played on the Iroquis under-19 team when he was 15 years old.

I knew you would disagree. I think too many posters believe that the juco ranks are teaming with players ready to make an impact at SU. Reality is that OCC will put out one or two players that will make an impact in all of d1. For every Fred Opie there is a Chris Coyne, and on and on. We will have to agree to disagree. I do agree that Randy Staats can be a stud if he makes it to SU.
