Now that's a steal.
Merced (California) College cornerback Devron Davis could have played Division I football at Oklahoma, Nebraska, West Virginia, Louisville, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Utah or Washington State. Eight schools from Power 5 conferences offered him, but he turned them down.
He wanted to play for Mike Bobo at CSU.
Davis, 6-foot, 210 pounds, announced via Twitter on Wednesday that after a successful visit to Fort Collins over the weekend, he has committed to play at Colorado State University in 2016.
Davis is rated a three-star recruit by the 247Sports composite score and ranked as the 54th best JUCO player in the nation. As a freshman at Merced last season, he had 33 tackles, a fumble recovery, three interceptions and brought one of those back for a touchdown. As a kick returner, Davis averaged 18.8 yards per touch with a long of 50 yards.
His Hudl profile says he can run the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds, benches 295 pounds and squats 385 pounds with a 34 1/2 inch vertical.
Davis is the Rams' seventh commitment of the 2016 class and fifth in the past week.
