Class of 2019 JUCO CB Elijah Blades (AZ) Flipped to TAMU from Oregon

The LSU football staff is in search of cornerbacks in the 2019 recruiting cycle after the Tigers went without signing any true cornerbacks in February, electing to move the lone defensive back addition - four-star safety Kelvin Joseph - to cornerback to help alleviate depth concerns.

With Kevin Toliver and Donte Jackson gone from the roster and Greedy Williams back as the only returning starter at the position, LSU defensive backs coach Corey Raymond will look to add a handful of cornerbacks between now and next February.

Offers are already out to a number of elite high school prospects, and now the Tigers are dipping into the JUCO rankings for a possible addition.

On Tuesday evening, LSU offered Arizona Western Community College cornerback Elijah Blades, a 6-foot-2 and 170-pounder who plans to sign with an FBS school this cycle.

Blades is a familiar name in recruiting circles, having once been committed to Florida before signing with Nebraska during the 2017 class. He was ranked as the No. 15 cornerback prospect in the country on the 247Sports Composite, but the 247Sports rankings had Blades ranked as the No. 3 cornerback in the country behind only Ohio State signees Jeffrey Okudah and Shaun Wade.

He wrapped up his high school career at John Muir (Pasadena, Cali.) as a Top 50 prospect on 247Sports and a Top 150 prospect on the 247Sports Composite.

Blades picked up offers from LSU and Tennessee on Tuesday, which added to a scholarship list that also includes Syracuse, Ole Miss, Illinois, FAU and UNLV.
