Very interesting. Yes, the US escaped the Group of Death - without their striker after game 1. Played a valiant game against Belgium, that maybe we should have won. We have had some impressive results in friendlies since Klinsmann took over, including wins over Germany, Italy, Scotland and Venezuela. We also beat the Czech Republic and Serbia, neither of which would be considered easy games, and Nigeria to go along with Ghana at the World Cup.
Of course, we have also done great in CONCACAF, and have really outplayed Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama and Honduras overall in our region. The whole country was very impressive in their public support of the national team in Brazil. It was off the hook. We may be critical of Klinsmann here in the US, but abroad, the job he has done is held in high esteem.
