Bryce, of course must be wondering if he should have stayed, (yeah, he's wondering all the way to the bank). nationals fans probably take a special delight in his imagined discomfort.
A memory flashes in my mind. I'm a Mets fan now but i was a Pirates fan in the 60's and 70's, (I was on a little team named the pirates and decided to root for that team. it was fun until the organization collapsed and a street drug scandal invaded the clubhouse. Then I started watching the Mets on TV because I liked their broadcasting crew. I was bummed out in 1978 when Pete Rose decided to leave the Big Red Machine and the Pirates really wanted him but he signed with the Phillies. When the Pirates won the 1979 World Series, I had a warm feeling in my heart thinking about Pete wishing he'd been a part of it. instead he was stuck with the Phillies.
Then the Phillies won it all in 1980. That's not a prediction, just a sense of deja vu.
