Just saw the blind side block penalty

What craptastic call by the officials last weekend. Didn’t matter in the grand scheme because of Welch’s bomb but that was another bad call on a long list of bad calls. Really bad call.
I haven’t seen the replay but it looked like a perfectly executed block. I don’t remember it even being on the side or the “blindside”. Seemed like the dude had tunnel vision and our guy did his job.

They called unnecessary roughness, yes?

with the new rule you cant use excessive force on blind side blocks that are legal.

funny you can now hit them harder in bball than fball.

The replay made it look like the Pitt player got his head around in time to see the oncoming tackler and brace himself. He chose not to because he was trying to make the play.

I know slow mo distorts it but it didn't look like a blindside hit to me because the player was facing the hit (not like a typical crack-back block you'd see in years prior).

I suppose the Pitt kid was ruled defenseless and that's what drew the flag. I didn't like the call either.

Iirc, our guy got his hands inside, as well. I didn't understand the call.

So the call on the field was a 'blind side block' and a 15 yard unsportsmanlike. I honestly don't know what's legal and not legal in this game anymore. This was a nearly 100% squared up block. Perfectly clean in my opinion save for the fact he decleated the kid. So now you can block, just don't block to hard.

at least the tennis review makes sense and everyone sees it..

why football wants to hide the process is just wrong. and then when the mess it up they hide that too.

contrarian here

all these rub routes and mesh patterns show that you don't need to kill someone to prevent them from making a tackle, you just need to interfere a little they way they do in hockey at the blue line

they can't write a rule of, don't kill someone when you don't need to, but that's really what all these rules are and who can blame them for trying to make it safer

I agree on that.. blind side doesnt mean clean someones clock.. but in this case had the SU player let up the pitt guy going full speed at him runs him over too in a legal way.

another food for thought is studies have shown that often getting hit hard when relaxed cause less damage.. people have fallen from high distances and survived because they didnt tense up. guys who get blind sided if they don get hit in the head tend to pop up.

We might as well say then that Ford targeted DeVito. After all, DeVito was diving down, the safety only needed to let him. Not hit him like a missile.

If you watch this play live Zaccardo is barely running., He just gets the Pitt kid up under the shoulder pads which is why he's knocked off his feet. I guess it's back to thud drills.
