what do we give these kids, Happy, houses? tractors? we gave a kid a tractor? bags of cash? whatever they want we give 'em... There's Happy running to the ATM, he's getting the best recruits money can buy!

One thing I never understood were the big recruits in the movie.

Shaq? You bet.
Penny? Sure.
Matt Nover? Huh? Dude had the charisma of a stale cardboard box.

See what a tractor and gym bag full of cash gets you.
 
Bobby Hurley playing for Indiana was always weird for me.
I get UCLA not wanting the attachment as Western but the Sam Gilbert-John Wooden connections are why they didn’t want that.
But Western is supposed to be UCLA.
 
Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.

Kevin Bacon was in A Few Good Men with JT Walsh.
JT Walsh was in Blue Chips with James Arthur Boeheim.

I got one even closer: Kevin Bacon was in Tremors. I watched Tremors. Boom!
 
Bob Cousy = the only adult in the movie who wasn't shady.

And I remember being so confused by Al Bundy as a reporter when I saw this movie at age 12.
