I have been there when Hicks was head lifting coach and the only thing I wasn’t in love with was the technique wasn’t as clean as it should have been. His concepts and program were pretty dead on and at the time the guys were drinking muscle milk. They were only allowed so many grams of protein in a certain shake. All college was like that which is dum as in reality. Ncaa was so bad they monitored protein consumption. Wth. Anyways he was really well liked and loved the hangclean and used it as the main lift if I remember correctly. Yes squatting and benching were also used but I like tighter technique. Some guys weren’t squatting parallel and then bench was all bounce with butts in air all over the place. Tiller was there and that’s a big human. Wow. Throwing 90 lb curls like he was warming up. He damn near scared the shttttt outta my 2 olineman who thought they were d-1 guys until that day lmao. He did good there and also they got Cory Parker there too who does olympic sports as the lifting coach. Cory is a great guy and a better coach especially in running and technique of lifting. Would make my son do something over and over till his technique was perfect and then would let him move up in weight. I really do like these new guys too though. Very detailed plans for each single individual cause every kid needs something different or has different weaknesses. High schools are about a general program mostly and I followed at Central Square what Cory basically had our kids doing but we didn’t have mandatory lifting so I only had 15 kids. I could fix some of their bad points but if I had 45 guys then u need a cookie cutter program to follow cause u or me couldn’t spot every kid. Anyways, coach Hicks knows his stuff and is a benefit tonour program no matter what capacity it’s in. Sorry I kinda ran off topic.
