Kansas south? UVA Midwest?

Why was KU 1 seed in the South (Louisville) and UVA 1 seed in the Midwest (Chicago)? Seems backward to me.

After seeing KU struggle when Nova went zone and seeing KU shooting woes, kind of wish we had them in the Midwest

Going by Google Maps the Yum center in Louisville is 2 miles closer to KU than the United Center.
