He is physically huge but from seeing him for the first time tonight, it appeared Sabonis was a far better player.

I don't know. He took his team further. It came down to UNCs 4 NBA bigs against the Zags 3 NBA bigs, and the heels won the battle of attrition.

He is Chris Kaman 2.0

He was off tonight, that's for sure. Zags had a shot to be up double digits at half if they could just hit open looks. Then the 2nd half turned into something that wasn't basketball. He's better than he looked tonight.

He was an odd cat to watch. He seemed to make the right moves with his body/footwork around the basket, but had absolutely no touch to finish. Same against South Carolina.

I thought he was really solid against South Carolina. UNC had big bodies who could body him up. His initial moves and footwork were good it seemed but then he would get himself into a worse predicament and/or not finish. He is absolutely terrific at keeping the ball high and not bringing it down to get stripped. Sabonis is better but this guy isn't that beer keg/kegerator dude from the old Big East.

Tonight the Poland Chicken couldn't put the kielbasa in the bab.la

This Gonzaga team has a lot more talent this year.

Yep. Gonzaga had no one close to Williams-Goss last year. Infact Collins and Jonathan Williams are both very very good and they didn't' have them last year either. All the Zags really had last year was Sabonis and Wiltjer. I'm not a big fan of Perkins or Melson. And their SR Guard last year, Dranginis, wasn't in the same zip code was Williams-Goss

Collins was the best big on the floor and IMHO the only sure fire NBA guy. Meeks & Kanrowski seem like the same player to me. Big guys who overpower people in college but are not necessarily the most skilled at basketball.

This math is funny. Jackson, Collins, Tillie. Not sure any other big makes into the first round if drafted at all. No place in today's NBA for Kaman. Combined with age Karnowski might latch on as a 3rd team center ala Boban......

He looked gassed. Fouls forced Collins to sit on the bench and Karnowski couldn't get any rest.

Agreed. Not even remotely close. Karnowski is not even the best center on this year's team.

He has some things an NBA team will like. great size, good passer, good FT shooter, usually good around the basket. If had played for us this year we would have been top 15.

Karnowski was gassed, that's for sure. I think Collins being bodied by 3-4 professional-caliber front court players took it's toll and ultimately was the difference.

Collins has been the best big on the floor in any Zags game for months. Individually, that may have been true again tonight, but he's never been against that DEEP of a front court. He'll be a lottery pick next year.

He's like Meeks. A below the rim big man. He might get a shot but I don't see him sticking in the league.

That's how I feel about what happened last night. Karnowski / Collins are a tough matchup for most teams, and have dominated most matchups this year. The UNC bigs similarly are a tough matchup for most teams, and have dominated most matchups this year. Something had to give.

Maybe the UNC bigs were just more accustomed / comfortable to playing big, strong guys like that. They did just enough, whereas Karnowski just couldn't seem to get anything to drop. He probably hasn't faced too many guys like Meeks that he can't just overpower.

Yup. Agree. Big guys who can give you some offense is still SO valuable in this game. Hicks was actually my player of the game. Some of his layups and baskets in traffic were huge. Earlier in the season I was scolded by some posters suggesting that Hicks is a better player than Roberson and someone I was hoping Roberson would become like.

The math works better using front lines, not just "bigs" (5s)
