From everything I understand he was a heavy SU lean at one time. We chilled on him and subsequently he gave his committment to UNLV. Last year as a junior he was terrific against senior Austin Rivers down in Florida.

This year he played in the Hoops Hall Classic and had 32 points in three quarters. He has a quick release, great range, drives to the hoop and finishes strong. Has a great handle, very good ups, is a great passer, has tremendous basketball instincts and is driven to succeed. The kid is a good rebounding guard too.

He plays for Mater Dei and Gary McNight, father of 2003 assistant Clay. Mater Dei is Hop's alma mater so we had that going for us too.

I know we can't take every recruit and yes we have Tevor Cooney but I wish we could have made room. You can never have enough pure shooters who have the skill sets this kid has.

Just needed to rant on this.

Back in May of 2011 after he decommitted he publicly stated that he hoped Syracuse, who had recruited him before he committed to USC, would come around again. He was looking for the right style of play to fit his game. He was interested in an uptempo offense one that gets out in transition. He wasn't interested in a halfcourt offense.

It was reported a few days later that he was hearing from Syracuse. He said he was staying open but Syracuse is really interesting. In June of 2011 he said he liked Syracuse, Arizona, and Florida. He also noted that Syracuse and Arizona State had been recruiting him the longest. He said distance wasn't a factor.

In July he said Syracuse, ASU, Arizona, Baylor & Gonzaga were recruiting him the hardest.

Later in July someone posted that we were no longer recruiting Reinhardt.

In August he visited UNLV, his grandma lived near by and he committed to Dave Rice.

i was pro katin the whole time and deeply hope we dont regret not offering him

Not to mention that we are quickly running out of guards.

I like him too. After watching him play twice last summer, I thought more of a taller version of Devo than Jimmer. Reinhardt breaks ankles and doesn't mind saying a few words about it like our boy used to do. He has a good shot from deep but his shot selection and decision making at times would make you shake your head. I wish we could've made room as well but at the time it seemed pretty packed at the guard position.

I think OE is comparing him to Jimmer less based on style of play and more based on being a big time scorer we chose not to recruit (though with Jimmer being Mormon, I have a hard time we would have beaten BYU for his services anyway).

The only similarity he has to Jimmer is their skin color. ...

Thats racist Boatright.

Jimmer wasn't Mormon. was he??

Mormon father, Catholic mother, and the kids all chose to become Mormon when their parents gave them the choice (according to Wikipedia).

His older sister was also Miss Teen NY in 1998. We need pictures of her, I think.

EDIT: And here she is:
