Katz ranks the ten best champs since 2000

How is Kemba’s team not there? There was not a squad on earth that dude was going to let his team lose to. Gotta respect him

Gotta give him and the team credit for that tremendous run.
But the Orange had them beaten in OT of the BE tournament.
But for SU's missed dunks, layups and free throws (5 for 11...UConn was 22- 28).
UConn wouldn't even have gotten into the NCAA's.
They owe us.

They were in regardless

They had an impressive non conference resume and a win over number one seed Pitt in the BET before they played us. They weee easily in.

Especially after having Melo as the #1 MVP of the Final Fours in those same years with Kemba further down the list.

That team was average for 3/4 of the season.

We were better than UNC and Mich State too.

Melo >>>>>>>>Mo Pete and McCants. Cmon.

And remarkable for 1/4
As was everyone else that won a ‘chip. They don’t get bonus points for doing it unexpectedly.

Those games were ugly as hell too. Boring ISO ball with scores in the 50s and Kemba jacking and making late in the shot clock contested jumpers. Beat a scrubby 8 seed Butler in a game that set basketball back 75 years.

Meh.

As much as I hate UConn, their ‘04 squad would be a top 5 team for me. Okafor/Gordon was a great 1-2 punch and then they had about 6 other guys who were really solid players.

I know they had a handful of losses and were a 2 seed, but that was largely due to Okafor’s back issues that season.

Yes. Their 04 team was way better than 11 or 14 and would be the one that should be on there. It’s funny that this all the Boneyard has left to get worked up about though.

Agree. 04 was a legit good team. 11 and 14 should be glad they NCAA didn't just decide not to award a trophy those years.

Only omission was the 04 UConn team. I think there were 4 lottery picks and 2 other first rounders on that team. Also, they only had two losses when the team was full strength. Okafor had a broken back all year and Ben Gordon broke his nose and wasn’t the same for a few games and Villanueva didn’t get cleared until like 10 games in. The easiest way to compare what they were like when healthy was to look at the championship game. When they were unhealthy they got beaten by GT. When healthy they were up roughly 25 at half. No issues with 11 and 14 not making it. They got hot at the right time. 11 would have probably beaten anyone during the run. 14 would have been screwed if they ran into Louisville. They got trounced them twice.

It’s kind of like those old Da’Bears skits irl.

Lol, was 06 the one that lost to George Mason?

09? That’s the one we beat in the 6 OT game. They weren’t even better than a normal “good” Syracuse team. They’ve gone plum crazy over there.

I think we Cuse fans are a little off the mark here. We should be grateful there are still like 12 UCONN fans around to celebrate their regular season greatness in 2003.

Fans of UCONN, Lost (the TV series), Oasis, and M. Night Shyamalan are a dying breed, they should be celebrated not mocked!
