[QUOTE="SWC75, post: 1576595, member: 289"] No- he didn't die yet, (he's 87).I love watching vintage football clips and found that Washington State has put some if it's broadcasts from the 1958 on You-Tube. I know: ZZZZZZ. What makes this interesting is that the commentary is by a 29 year old Keith Jackson, who graduated from Wazzou in 1954 after going there in the GI Bill, (he's originally from Georgia and Alabama, which is the source of his down home broadcasting style- many great sports broadcasters are from the south, which has produced some great storytellers.). You'll hear the names of players like Gail Cogdill, who I remember as a pass receiver with the Lions in the 60'sand Keith Lincoln, later a star running back with the Chargers. Northwestern is coached by 35 year old Ara Parseghian. They were coming off an 0-9 year but won their first four games, including a 55-24 win over Michigan where they led 43-0 at halftime, before depth issues brought them back down to earth and they finished 5-4. The same thing happened the next year when they shocked the country by beating Oklahoma 45-13 and started 6-0 before finishing 6-3 and in 1962, when they started 6-0 and finished 7-2. Ara beat Notre Dame four times in a row so they hired him away from Evanston and the rest is history. Washington State was 7-3 that year under Coach Jim Sutherland, their best record between 1951 and 1965, when they also went 7-3.
