I mean, i prefer the eyeball test sometimes for these things and I've watched ND all year, but just look at the numbers:

Book is completing 21% more of his passes (look at that number -- it's insane) and he's even doing so while averaging nearly 2 yards more per attempt (1.8) and nearly doubling Wimbush in adjusted yards/attempt (accounting for TDs/INTs). That all adds up to a rating that is more than 55 points better. That's crazy.

And on the ground? Book doesn't run as often, but their effectiveness is almost identical:
Book: 65 carries, 218, 3.4 ypc, 4 TDs
Wimbush: 64 carries, 212, 3.3 1 TD

Obviously Wimbush runs more, but to what end? Not much as far as the scoring offense is concerned. ND is scoring 38.8 ppg with Book, 28 ppg (6 starts) with Wimbush (4 starts).

The best argument for Wimbush is if you give him a bunch of credit for the Michigan win -- made some really nice plays with his legs and came up with a few big plays through the air while taking care of the ball. Book meanwhile has feasted on largely terrible defenses outside of Stanford.

But ultimately I guess it doesn't matter -- the power running game will probably be the thing we need to stop (and may struggle with the most).
