Kent Syverud tells ESPN: ‘The current system of college sports can’t continue’

Private equity the answer?

Can the professional money experts really give some direction and
stability to the insanity that is currently big time college sports? It's obviously
a big business with lots of $$ which is the ultimate attraction
for these guys. It'll be interesting who calls the shots when
push comes to shove.

There is enough dumb money to invest, but the returns will be garbage. Money in college sports is peaking, fragmentation is the opposite of what attracts PE and college sports is becoming massively fragmented (the have and have nots, and then haves who also have not). There is concentration at the top, but the top will continue to consume itself.

These schools are in this position because of their arrogance and failure to see the train barreling toward them. The haves and have nots in college athletics existed way before NIL.
