i'm a little confused here but just to clarify the facts. did all the kentucky players return to shake hands post game ?

It was reported that Cauley Stein and the Harrison's did not shake hands with Wisconsin.

Doesn't a Kentucky handshake have something to do with your cousin? Don't google it.

Kentucky is trying to curb post-game handshakes in high school sports. Maybe some of UK's players got confused?

Kentucky's athletic sanctioning body has ordered high schools not to conduct postgame handshakes in all sports following more than two dozen physical confrontations the past three years.

Im going to be in the minority here but to me, teams should shake hands before celebrating. To expect players to watch the other team jump up and down for 5 minutes before shaking their hands is a bit unreasonable.

In the majority of cases I would agree with you. However, it all depends on the "gravity" of the game and the consequences for winning. Considering the Badgers waited all year to play the Wildcats again, and since Kentucky had been undefeated to this point, I can understand the circumstances.

Im fine w the celebrations. Its standard in ncaas. But i dont expect the opponents to wait around necessarily. People love to pile on uk for these type of things.

I don't know. I think part of growing up is dealing with tough losses. Wisky went through the line last year. The Russians waited for USA in 1980 hockey and there couldn't be a tougher loss. It's a character thing.

I think it's also a maturity thing as well. It's just being childish, really. You mentioned it being part of growing up...and that's exactly what I was thinking, that someone needs to tell this kids to just grow up already.

I don't think it's piling on at all. I still have little respect for Isiah Thomas and the rest of the Pistons for leaving the court early after the Bulls won the 1991 series, even though that was very tense series. Grow up and show good sportsmanship.

For me that goes back to 1987.

Yes you can add a whole list of things for the Pistons. I meant to add that to my original post actually.

The way i see it, and anyone is free to disagree as im sure many well, is these kids handle themselves w remarkable maturity 99% of time. These kids put up w a lot of and as soon as they dont do one thing perfect, the band of naysayers a mile long is ready to pounce and question their integrity. In this instance, I think people need to justify their feelings of illwill toward a particular program.

I believe a kentucky handshake involves 100 bills
for a program and a coach just sanctioned does it make u fell better to falsely indict an innocent coach and program.

It was a joke. I respect coach cal for the most part. I think hes an advocate for the players. I think there should be more people supporting these kids.

Im just going to come out and say im wrong on this. I feel these kids take a lot of heat but the expectations should be high and theyre wrong not to shake hands.

Men are hierarchical in social structure, and competition is one way of establishing hierarchy. The handshake at the end of competition signals the hierarchy is established, and it's time to accept the results and move on. It's critical to maintaining social order that the established hierarchy is honored, otherwise you end up in a state of perpetual conflict.

We're not going to suddenly become a better country if we focus solely on handshake lines in sports...but that fact we can't do them anymore is a signal that our culture is collapsing. When I see states moving to stop handshake lines in high school sports, I think it shows we've just given up on even trying to be a civilized society anymore.
