Kickoff question

When SU kicked off after Miami roughed the kicker on the last PAT, Denaburg wore his usual number 15 jersey instead of putting on 47. I guess this means that McDonald was not on the kickoff team for that play.

My question is: was McDonald not on the field because of a strategy reason or was he hurt?

Barron was banged up, so McDonald got promoted off the kickoff team for the rest of the day.

Or they just figured that Denaburg would send the ball into the marching band anyways.

And why doesn't Denaburg just switch to #47 permanently?

A little off topic, but it always seemed to me that a penalty in that situation should be applied to the end of the kickoff return, not just move the kicking Tee 10 or 15 yards closer to the endzone that you were going to blast it out the back of anyway. Seems like the penalty is a free-bee for the offending team the way they do it now.
