or if you want to use a lamer domain name, fine.

This ain't charity. We want Rahme to cover SU football. The post standard wants some BleacherReport turd to do it. Rahme has a huge risk starting his own venture not knowing if the assorted onanists here will pay up. We risk not having good football writers cover the team.

That's where kickstarter comes in. Dave would know ahead of time whether there's enough money to start up his own venture with Webb and whoever (pitoniak?). He could set the bar. We could each chip in knowing that we get our money back if there aren't enough contributions to hit the said bar.

This will work Dave. Consider this idea my penance for starting that whole hullaballoo before the West Virginia game.

Hell, they raised 70 trillion dollars for some old hag on a school bus. we could probably do a kickstarter to raise another billion to pay for chips gender reassignment surgery. this is a piece of cake

count me in, but make the name DaveRhamemuststay.com. Also count me in for the support protest march in front of the Post Standard building downtown when it happens.

Whose with me? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......

Insert Germans, Pearl Harbor thing, but I'd be there in a heart beat for such a thing.

I'm in.

It will take a lot of subscribers to make it work (my guess 4-5k+ for 3 writers and a part-time tech person).

He could make one of the rewards that he likes one of your syracusefan.com posts.

I would be down for this. But...I would be down for paying for this site first. Or helping to pay for it. But I cannot get the people I have reached out to to give me any sense of the costs.

44cuse

Well hell, let's combine the two ideas and hire Dave on as the official Syracusefan writer/reporter.

If the Post-Standard is going to try outsourcing their SU coverage, we might as well choose the best writer we can afford. Dave Rahme is a very good writer, but can we afford him?

This sounds a lot like FB recruiting with people saying:
"We don't the boosters to pay for players like Newton or Reggie Bush"

But do we have enough boosters to afford Rahme!?!? Tune in next week and find out!

The powers-that-be have been provided with several alternatives for generating the revenue needed to fund the website.

Methinks they're working on implementing their preferred (and realistic) alternative(s).

That's a different proposition than the Dave Rahme kickstarter idea.

If we create a premium board and pay Rahme to provide us with premium information would that mean the site will go back to allowing my adblocker to block the site ads?

if SaintTristanus donates just a small portion of the money his housekeepers find in the lint trap, we're looking at the next facebook.

Could he still get access the the SU uppity ups? Seems like working for the daily (RIP) newspaper would have a little more clout in that regard.

i am not sure what this thread is about, but if milly is asking i am in.

We need a premium board. A great writer just happened to be free. Anyone with me?

should've mentioned. one of my friends did a kickstarter project to fund what will probably a really obscure photography book. she's a great photographer/professor but with a very limited target audience. raised 17 grand like that. just one example.

these things can get a head of steam.
