Over on Otto's Grove, decided I wanted to reflect on fandom, the 1995-96 season, John Wallace, and how 1995 kinda changed the direction of my young life and my Syracuse fandom in general. Feel free to read it, or feel free not to...I won't hold it against you!

And now COMPLETELY off topic: decided to also put up something for another project I've been working on off and on, dealing with cheaters, killers, and crooks in sports history - http://.com/all-of-your-heroes-are-jerks-dora-ratjen/

I actually like to think it's the short conversation that my wife and I had with John at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs in June of that year. I believe he was there to try out for Team USA? Anyway, we told him we loved his game and he was needed back in the Dome that fall. He smiled and said he appreciated the support.

Love reading your stuff.

Great read. Bittersweet memories. The tourney run was so fun, but losing stung so hard. I watched those games in the dome on a big screen they had set up. I couldn't even go to school the next day.

when I was in first or second grade, any time the teacher mentioned “Washington” I immediately thought of the Pearl, rather than the father of our country.

Nicely done!

Boeheim would probably agree with you that sometimes the twitch of an eyelash can set into motion all kinds of "improbabilities." He is very philosophical in his book, with many "ifs... thens."

John Wallace is still my all time favorite Orangmen!
