Knicks sign 35 year old point guard from Argentina

Don't think this is how the Knicks planned their off season.
Ronnie Brewer is better than Landry Fields. I think the Knicks did very well this offseason. The Lin thing is what it is but all the moves they made turn them into a possible top defensive squad.

Knicks were 5th in defensive efficiency last year; you gotta think they'd be better this year, right?

These additions seem to be all about the present, rather than any future.
Melo is in his prime, as is Chandler, and even injury prone Amarie has a coupla years left.
You bring in Kidd and now Methuselah at the PG position...and what, pray they last the season?
Ask the Celtics how "veteran" players perform after a long regular season, especially against the likes of Miami?
Geez, typical Knicks- no foresight whatsoever! :bang:

Not at all. I think Brewer's a good fit for them though. Wouldn't surprise me if he plays a lot of 4th quarter minutes.

Pablo Prigioni 2012 mix!!!

I didn't love Brewer in Chicago last year. Not sure if he would do better in NY's offense.

Brewer's not really a guy you bring in to fit on offense. He's an ok slasher and makes sure that easy buckets stay easy, but his real value is on defense.

Really, if you could put JR Smith and Brewer together you'd have a pretty awesome guard.

When the Knicks originally planned their off-season they didn't think they would have bird rights on Novak or Lin, and figured they would be hard capped at $74 million because they'd have to use the MLE to match any Lin contract. So things have worked out pretty well, all things considered. (Not that I am happy about losing lin)

I love the Brewer signing. Hopefully he can keep JR on the bench at least for a decent amount of time.

All veteran players were not created equal sir...Garnett and Pierce are not walking through that door.

Thats my point...they're bringing in veterans who're not even in the same class as the Boston Big3, and still expecting them to last the year & perform.
Damn right, Pierce, KG, and Ray Ray are not walking thru that door. Instead, we get Kidd and the Euro Rip Van Winkle...oh, goody!
Miami must be quaking in their boots right now!:bang:

Gotcha Bombay..I thought you were being sarcastic in the other direction.

The biggest problem with the Knicks moves is just how bad these moves look next season after another 1st round playoff ouster. You'll be going to bat with the same team again the following season.

Other than Lin, there wasn't much they could do. I honestly think they did well to add the quality players that they did. Didn't have a lot of chips.

Yeah, I think the Knicks are a better team this season than last season which is pretty remarkable considering.

All-Euroleague second team TWICE! 35 years old! Sounds like a keeper!

I think the Knicks would love to have the success that the Celts did, even if for one year but you are right. I don't think they have any master plan- that left when Dolan took over. 1973 is a loooong time ago. The confetti that came down after the one playoff victory is very telling.

Garnett/Pierce/Allen were all senior citizens. Melo/Amare/Chandler are in their prime years. You cant compare Boston to NY in terms of age when NY's top 3 players are all in their prime. Kidd and Camby will get alot of playing time...off the bench. Its not like were expecting them to carry us to a Championship. Felton, JR, Melo, Amare, Chandler, Shumpert, Novak, Brewer are not old. Just because Camby, Kidd and two guys who will barely play (Kurt Thomas/Pablo Prigioni) are old doesnt make the Knicks some brittle, broken down, old team.

Melo said this morning he was going to have not 1, not 2, but 3 glasses of chocolate milk after his workout this morning.
