Knicks win Bird Rights case but.....

NBA is appealing decision. Lots of people still staying decision will go in Knicks favor.

This is HUGE if you're a Knicks fan. Basically means we can resign Lin and Novak without it killing our cap which gives us room to sign some good players.

We still get a MLE-5 mil, LLE-2.5 mil, and vets minimums.

Some wishlist players possibly added to the Knicks roster if decision holds are Lamar Odom, Steve Nash and OJ Mayo. Not all 3, but with the MLE and LLE these guys become options as well as guys like Michael Redd, Jason Kidd, Ray Allen, Ray Felton etc. This summer becomes very interesting if the decision holds....

Also interesting is that NBA is admitting this may not be resolved by July 1st. If so, and the Knicks act fast, could they sign players before the NBA possibly wins an appeal?

My guess is that this is a farce. The NBA is better if the Knicks are legit. NBA is giving the appearance of caring.

Haha plus, putting my Knicks bias aside for a second, the NBA needs somebody to compete with the Heat. All the good teams are in the West. Boston is a huge question mark and after that you have Chicago with an injured superstar and the Knicks with a mish-mosh of talent that doesnt fit. Miami as of now, has a free ride to the Finals for a longgggg time unless the Knicks or Bulls make moves.

Long shot I know, but I am hoping the Knicks trade amare and chandler for hedo and Dwight. Pick up Ray Allen. Imagine a line up (Lin, Shumpert, Melo, Hedo, Dwight.) Allen the sixth man I know he is a lot better than Shumpert but Woodson is about defense and I think that'd be a great line up to start with and have Ray Allen be that spark. Have melo Buy into defense and you have one of the most talented teams in the country.

Knicks probably aren't going to have the 5 million MLE; it's probably going to be the 3 million mid level. From what I understand, if you use the 5 million mid level then you are hard capped at $74 million, which I don't think the Knicks will want to do.

This is still obviously huge for them.
