A friend and golf partner of mine was a member of the SU football team and a teammate of Tom Coughlin back in the 60s. He is retiring this month.
Myself and a couple of other friends contacted Scott Shafer, and through mutual friends were also able to get a message to Tom Coughlin about his retirement. Both very graciously sent personal letters of congratulations to him. We surprised him at a retirement party with them and he was so elated.
The SU football family is just awesome.
